Brands Hatch BSB: Waters triumphs in the wet

1 of 2

The second MCE British Superbike race at Brands Hatch today has seen records broken with it’s almost unbelievable podium, as wet weather allowed Tyco Suzuki rider Josh Waters to take his maiden BSB win, ahead of fellow podium virgins Richard Cooper and Keith Farmer.

The start of the race was delayed not once but twice, after a huge accident for James Ellison left fuel on the track and the Kendal rider with a suspected broken hip. The restart was once again red flagged after acoolant leak caused Howie Mainwaring to crash out, thankfully unhurt,

By the time the action eventually got underway, the threatened rain had come on, and the Australian of Waters was able to push past early front runners Shane Byrne, Chris Walker, and Ryuichi Kiyonari, with Cooper following close behind.

Farmer was a late arrival to the party, however, having to fight his way forwards before a close battle with Cooper to decide the podium order. Tommy Bridewell was fourth on the Milwaukee Yamaha, while Byrne settled for fifth and Kiyonari was forced to retire.
