Seeley pleased with Cartagena progress

Alastair Seeley has left a four day test at Cartagena pleased with the progress he has made with his new Mar-Train team, with the Ulsterman able to run competitive times not only on his British Supersport R6 Yamaha but also on the ZX-10 machinery he’ll use at the North West 200.

Seeley said: “We’ve now found a decent base setting on the Supersport bike and on the final day we posted a handful of consistent mid 35 laps. In the first session of the week I was coming in knowing we could make improvements, but in yesterday’s second session, there were hardly any areas where we I was struggling, so it was a joy to mark up my track map at the end of the session.”

“When we start going to the BSB tracks it will just be a matter of dialling in certain changes to suit, but I’ve every confidence in the team and my crew chief Andy Jamison and mechanic Boost. I feel very comfortable on the bike now and am well pleased with the Cartagena test as we made a lot of progress.”

Team boss Tim Martin, who will also run rising star Dean Harrison on the roads, added: “We came to Cartagena with a little bit of work to do on the big bikes for the North West 200. The issues we had with chatter at Almeria seem to be ironed out and Alastair is very happy with both bikes.”

“It was also good to have Dean in the camp at Cartagena and nice to get him onto the Mar-Train R6 Yamaha for the first time. He’s a talented lad who we are all going to enjoy working with this season on the roads. It’s now time for home and to prepare for both Scarborough and the opening BSB tests in a few weeks’ time.”
