Youth Supercross results

Despite a heavy downpour on Friday night, and another two-hour drenching on Saturday, the new 500 metre clay based track was in superb condition for the opening encounter at the Norfolk Arena.

The Automatic 50cc competitors raced first in the Maxxis British Outdoor Youth Supercross Championship event. George Turner proved to be the perfect example coming from an opening lap crash in race two to grab second at the flag, to add to his first race win and claim overall victory in the class.

Camlann MacDonald and Josh Butler rounded out the overall top three and complete the KTM lockout.

One of only two riders to go through the evening unbeaten was Robert Davidson who powered his KTM to gate to flag victories in the 65cc class.

Behind him things were more hectic with many of the riders being caught out in the drying conditions. Jordan Moxey got the nod over Alfie Bowtell for second overall as he had a better result in race two.

One of the fiercest battles of the night was fought out by the 85cc small wheel class.

Suzuki mounted James Dunn, and Bradley Ward on his Kawasaki took a win apiece.

It was Dunn, however, who secured the overall top spot by stalking his prey for two laps in the second race before seizing the lead.

Ely’s George Redhead gave the local fans something to cheer about with a brace of third places on his KTM.

The big wheel 85cc riders were engaged in some terrific race action. George Baldwin, who took an early race one tumble from his KTM before riding through the field for third, came within an ace of the overall victory after another charge through the pack in race two for a well deserved win.

It was Robbie Joe Waller though, who kept his head and added to his first race victory with a secure second to stand on top of the Norfolk Arena podium.

In the Youth 125cc class everyone was talking about Norwegian teenager Pier Kristian Bakke. The Yamaha rider came over just for the event and enjoyed it so much he is planning on attacking the MX2 adult class next weekend.

Bakke made the whoops section look easy as he waltzed to a perfect 1-1 score card while George Winn followed up his opening race second place on the Kawasaki with a third to secure the runner up position
