AMA Chaz Davies v Neil Hodgson showdown begins

1 of 1

Britain’s Chaz Davies has had his first ride on the Attack Kawasaki ZX-6R at Daytona against none other than Neil Hodgson on a Honda CBR600RR.

Davies lapped the 2.95-mile Speedway with a hand-timed best of 1:39.5 seconds on his Pirelli-shod FX bike, which was faster than any of the Dunlop runners, and well better than the 1:41.51 turned in by Hodgson on the Honda.

The time, which was recorded on development rubber, was quicker than the fastest of the Dunlop runners; Erion Honda’s Josh Hayes’ best FX lap was a 1:40.2 on a qualifier.

Davies’ best lap on the Supersport bike was a 1:40.8. Graves Motorsports Yamaha’s Ben Bostrom turned a 1:40.25 on a Dunlop qualifier on his Supersport R-6.

Chaz Davies’ first impression of the green middleweight was that the ZX-6R is a well-balanced motorcycle with linear power, unlike the Yamaha R-6 which had a dull spot at the bottom.
