World Superbikes: Troy Corser claims pole position for Yamaha in Misano Superpole

Troy Corser has taken pole position at the Misano round of the World Superbike championship, making his point in the weekend long battle with fellow Australian Troy Bayliss.

Corser claimed his 40th pole position for the Yamaha Italia team with a time of 1:34.948, beating the Xerox Ducati of Troy Bayliss by less than 0.2 of a second. In thid spot is the second Yamaha Italia motorcycle of Noriyuki Haga, with Britain’s former World Superbike champion, Ten Kate Honda’s James Toseland completing the front row of the grid in fourth.

The second grid is headed by former MotoGP star and newcomer to the circuit, Alstare Suzuki’s Max Biaggi, followed by the Xerox Ducati of Lorenzo Lanzi, the Sterilgarda Ducati of Ruben Xaus and the Alstare Suzuki of Yukio Kagayama. Roberto Rolfo ended Superpole in ninth on the second Ten Kate Honda with Max Neukirchner rounding out the top ten.
