Tyre woes for Jones in WSS

World Supersport Brit Craig Jones saw a mystery tyre problem wreck his hopes of a top 10 finish at Phillip Island yesterday.

The former FoggyPetronas man, our lone representative in the class, salvaged two points with a 14th place after losing rear grip within three laps.

He explained: “Two laps in my tyre was gone. I don’t know what happened but I was just spinning up. I chose the same tyre as Kevin Curtain who had the same problems and I’m pretty gutted to be honest.

“Now we head home and then we?re testing with the new bikes in Valencia so we’ll be up for it at Donington Park.”
