MotoGP: Danny Webb looking to build on first points finish

Danny Webb has set his sights on three top 20 finishes in the last three 125 GP races after breaking his world championship points duck with a brilliant 13th place finish in Japan last weekend.

In one of the toughest examinations of his young career, Danny Webb survived countless scary moments in wet conditions in what he described as the longest race of his career in the Twin Ring Motegi.

He is now hoping to use his morale-boosting performance to finish a tough rookie campaign in style and he told MCN: “My target this season was to break into the points and I didn’t think I was going to be able to do it.

“But I’ve done that and it has given my confidence a massive boost. I don’t think I’ve ever been so relieved to see the chequered flag as I was in Japan.

“It was the longest race of my life and it was a real test of concentration. At times my head was wondering off all over the place because I didn’t want to throw away the points.

“I was having big moments every lap but I just had to stay calm. I could see people were crashing and it was really a case of just surviving.

“I came over the line with five laps to go and my pit board said L2, so I thought great, only one more lap go. And then I came round again and it said L4.

“It’s great have scored points in a Grand Prix. Now my aim is to do it again,” said the Honda privateer, whose previous best result was 20th earlier this season.
