R1 Cup riders head to Croft for testing

1 of 1

Pop over to Croft circuit in North Yorkshire on Thursday, March 20 and you’ll have the chance to see the R1 Cup grid in action for the very first time.

This will be the first official test day for all the riders who will be contesting this exciting new one-make televised series, which will support this year’s 12-round British Superbike Championship.

The championship contenders will be getting to grips with their machines for the first time, ahead of the start of the season at Brands Hatch on April 5/6th.

MCN Road Tester, Michael Neeves will also be there sampling one of the race-spec machines on the day.

There are still a few spots up for grabs in the R1 Cup.

Series organiser, Rob McElnea, is inviting those who’ve still to make their mind up about entering, to come along to meet the team and test one of the R1 Cup machines.

The entry fee for the series is £25,000.

For that you’ll basically receive a ‘factory’ ride; just turn up to the circuit on race weekend and you’ll have your Yamaha R1 race motorcycle there waiting for you, fully prepared and ready to race.

The entry fee also includes all the tools you’ll need for the weekend, tyres, paddock stands, tyre warmers, a tool trolley (painted up in the R1 Cup livery) to take out on the grid with you and repairs to any crash damage.

If you’re interested in testing one of the R1 Cup machines, contact Rob McElnea on r.mcelnea@virgin.net, or telephone 01724 271700.
