Silverstone BSB: Leon Haslam takes race two victory

1 of 1

Leon Haslam has taken his fifth victory in seven races in the second race at Silverstone after crashing out of race one.

Leon stretched out a big lead from the beginning with Karl Harris and Cal Crutchlow in pursuit. Harris and Crutchlow enjoyed an epic scrap during the second lap, swapping places several times, until Crutchlow ran straight on.

Meanwhile, Tom Sykes who had been penalised from the first race and started from 17th on the grid was up to sixth place by lap four and showing no sign of slowing.

On lap five newly-crowned champion Shane Byrne passed Karl ‘The Bomber’ Harris to take second position behind runaway leader Leon Haslam.

By lap seven Sykes was up to fourth and had fellow Yorkshireman Harris in his sights, and by lap 14 had passed Harris to get on to the podium – a stunning ride from 17th.

By lap nine Crutchlow had made his way back up to eighth behind James Ellison and Michael Rutter, both of who he eventually passed on lap 12.

Unfortunately Crutchlow retired on lap 15 after what is thought to be an engine failure.
