Assen WSB: Haslam takes third and second

1 of 1

Stiggy Honda rider Leon Haslam got his first WSB podium at Assen with a third in race one, after he was unable to hold off WSB rookie Ben Spies.

Haslam looked odds on to finish second, but a late surge from Spies knocked the Derbyshire rider back to third.

Leon Haslam managed to hang onto Spies for several corners, but could not keep up with his pace as the American set his sights on race leader Noriyuki Haga.

Spies passed Haga on the final lap to take the win in race one.

Race two

Stiggy Honda rider Leon Haslam continued his good form to take second place in the second WSB race at Assen.

The Brit struggled to pass Xerox Ducati rider Michel Fabrizio for most of the race, but was determined to stick with the factory Ducati rider.

After passing Fabrizio, Haslam was able to ride the rest of the race relatively unchallenged after Jakub Smrz caught Michel Fabrizio.

Smrz was able to capitalise on a last lap mistake made by the Italian to take his first WSB podium.

Xerox Ducati rider Noriyuki Haga took the race win after Ben Spies crashed out of the race on only the second lap.
