After wide reaching changes to the American Superbike Championship, Suzuki have confirmed that the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing team will compete in the AMA Pro Racing Superbike series for 2009.

New series owners DMG proposed a whole new set of technical regulations following their buyout last year, which initially saw teams and manufacturers including American Honda turn their back on the series due to the completely revised set of technical regulations.

After extensive discussions with AMA Pro Racing, the teams have now received
clarification of the AMA rules leading to Suzuki America confirming that they will race their Suzuki GSX-R1000 in 2009 beginning with the opening round in Daytona, Florida in March.

Six-time AMA Superbike Champion, Mat Mladin, will race his Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the AMA Pro American Superbike class.

He will be joined by Tommy Hayden and new team member Blake Young.
