The first ever Six Nations Motosix championship was convincingly won by Northern Ireland with 347 points from England with 443 points and Scotland trailing in third place on 516 points.

The Northern Ireland star was Alastair Seeley he won the first 600 race and changed immediately to his 1000cc machine to beat England’s Richard Cooper by 0.01 of a second. He came within half a second of repeating the exercise the second time round but Cooper managed to stay in front to take the 1000cc race by half a second.

Local rivals Adam Hoare and Rich Thompson both from Derby battled out the first lightweight race with the honours going to last season’s champion Hoare.

Chesterfield rider Leo Aldersley came between them in the second race to steal second place leaving Hoare with a eight point margin over Thompson after the first two rounds.

Ulster’s Ian Lowry warmed-up for his first British Superbike championship season by winning the open race at Bishopscourt, Co Down on Sunday.

Lowry was always in full control on his Relentless by TAS Suzuki.

He beat privateer David Haire (Honda) by eight seconds with BJ Toal who is going Superstock racing this year, third.

World Superbike star Jonathan Rea was on hand to give his young brother Richard a help with his clubmans senior success.
