Brit Fans Follow Our Super Seven in Qatar

Thousands of loyal enthusiasts are expected to tune into Eurosport on Friday and Saturday to follow the adventures of Britain’s Super Seven in the second round of the World Superbike and Supersport championships in Qatar.

Led by tough guy Leon Haslam, who holds third place in the superbike points standings on his Stiggy Honda, the septet’s battles for glory in the WSB/WSS fame academy have captured the Brit public’s imagination.

Sixth and third places gave Haslam a fantastic start to the season in the first round in Australia, while the others experienced a mix of success and frustration:

Jonathan Rea: the 22-year-old holds eighth place in the WSB table after taking fifth and ninth places on the Ten Kate Honda. He also qualified for the front row.

Tom Sykes: suffered two slow starts on the factory Yamaha R1 but collected two tenth places and tenth in the championship. American team-mate Ben Spies demonstrated that the new R1 has the speed, though, with victory in race two.

Shane Byrne: An oh-my-god weekend on the Sterilgarda Ducati with two un-Shakey-like crashes, leaving him a big handicap to series leaders Noriyuki Haga (Ducati Xerox, 45 points) and Alstare Suzuki’s Max Neukirchner on 30 points.

Tommy Hill: Britain’s grittiest racer finished 14th in both races on his Altea Honda in Australia after suffering two busted thighs in different accidents since 2007.

Cal Crutchlow: Showed he has the speed to run with the fast pack with fourth in Supersport on his Yamaha.

Eugene Laverty: scored a storming fifth in Supersport on a Honda.
