Indy MotoGP: No new tactics from Jorge Lorenzo

Jorge Lorenzo insists he won’t radically overhaul his race tactics in a bid to end a succession of deflating defeats to factory Yamaha team-mate Valentino Rossi.

Lorenzo has failed to beat Rossi in the last six races and crucial mistakes have virtually killed off his title hopes.

Following his second successive crash out of the lead in Brno earlier this month, the Spaniard is a massive 50-points adrift.

He’s also suffered morale-crushing late defeats in Catalunya and Sachsenring as his own impressive form has only served to inspire eight-times world champion Rossi to ride arguably better than at any other stage in his career.

Lorenzo denied it was time for a change in strategy and he told MCN: “When I came to the world championship Valentino was the king of MotoGP and I was 20th in 125s.

“Now I am more or less at the same level as him and I can improve a little more. Maybe I am fighting with the fastest rider ever and for sure it is difficult to beat him but my strategy is not bad. I must only improve in the braking and try not to crash anymore.”
