LCR Honda to run Hiroshi Aoyama in 2010?

Lucio Cecchinello’s satellite Honda squad could be expanded to a two-rider effort in 2010.

Already committed to run one RC212V next season, likely to be for current rider Randy de Puniet, it is rumoured that Cecchinello’s team could run a second Honda V4 machine for current 250GP world championship contender Hiroshi Aoyama.

The Japanese rider could be offered a premier class move as a reward for his outstanding performances for Honda in the 250GP series, with Aoyama leading the title race against a clutch of factory Aprilia bikes.

A model of consistency in 2009, Aoyama has finished every single race and won three times to hold a 13-point series lead over Suzuki-bound Spaniard Alvaro Bautista.

He’s also been linked with a move to Tech 3 Yamaha to partner Texan Colin Edwards.

Cecchinello is finalising his plans for 2010 during the current summer break and confirmed recently he could field a two-rider team next year having scrapped plans to enter the new 600cc Moto2 class.
