Honda to introduce updates in Germany

Honda will roll out a new electronics package and swingarm for the next round of the 2011 MotoGP world championship in Germany.

Casey Stoner, Andrea Dovizioso and Marco Simoncelli all evaluated a new swingarm during a one-day test session at Mugello on Monday.

The trio also tried a new engine braking set-up and having found an improvement with both updates, they have all confirmed the new parts will be fitted to their RC212V machines for the Sachsenring race on July 17.

Repsol Honda rider Dovizioso, who is currently third in the world championship standings, told MCN: “We tried a different engine braking system and we improved a little bit although still it is not so perfect and it wasn’t so linear, so we will try some more ideas in Sachsenring.  But it was better than normal because normally the rear wheel locked a little bit too much. We tried a new swingarm too and it was a little bit strange because there is more movement and it is more aggressive on the rear but the lap time comes easier and better.”

San Carlo Gresini Honda rider Simoncelli, who is still searching for his first premier class podium, added: “I tested one new swingarm and for me it was positive. It wasn’t a big difference but it was still positive and we test some items for braking stability and we have improved a bit. We got some good information here so it will be good for Sachsenring and for the rest of the season.”
