Moto3 Argentina: Fenati bashes his way to the win

Romano Fenati has broken Jack Miller’s win streak, bumping the Australian out of the way on the penultimate corner of the first ever Argentinian Moto3 race to take the first win for Valentino Rossi’s KTM team.

“I am happy, because the last win was in 2012. Today the bike was very good and my team worked very hard. I wasn’t well yesterday wight he flu, but today I had a good feeling. In the last corner I lost the front a little, and touched Jack and Marquez. It was a good fight, and I hope to do them all like this!”

Alex Marquez was second, taking advantage of Miller running wide after the collision to slide through. Miller, despite being in the one-two of the race-long fight, ended up in third, just ahead of one of the race sensations, Belgian Livio Loi, who made a brilliant fight from 11th to fourth, showing the pace to run with the leaders at the end.

However, Miller was despondent after the race, saying “I’ve got 16 points not 25 here, and I thought I had the race won in the last corner. it was a lot of fighting and a lot of fun, and sometimes it ends in tears.”

Alex Rins and Efren Vasquez, an early battler with Miller, were the second group 3 seconds back, with Isaac Vinales, Nikolas Ajo and Danny Kent back in ninth, despite crashing in the last turn and sliding across the line.

“I was already in the corner, and my team-mate come in and took me out, but thankfully I got across the line. Iw as losing out on acceleration, and I was lucky to not crash earlier in the race as I was trying to make it all up on the brakes. That destroyed the tyre and forced me to drop back, but I was confident running with the leaders earlier on.”

John McPhee was unlucky to crash out of the race from the top six, running very strongly earlier in the race before dropping out at one third distance after losing the front on the dirty track.
