Lowes disappointed with seventh place

Sam Lowes has left his home race disappointed with hisseventh place, the best finish of any of the Brits, after setting his sights firmly on scoring his maiden Moto2 podium finish early in the weekend.

“Today was disappointing if I’m honest. I really wanted to put on a good show for the home fans and I thought we could push towards the podium but we’re at a real crossroads in terms of set-up and we’re struggling.”

With Lowes the only rider of the factory Speed-up team, a machine generally regarded as inferior to his opponents’, the bulk of the development has fell on the reigning world supersport champion, meaning he’s been forced to improve the bike and test parts while still working on adjusting his riding style.

“I had a good start and was strong towards the end of the race but in the middle waswhere it was tough, I felt if I’d pushed any harder, like I wanted to, I’d have crashed. We’ll move on from here and see what progress we can make. I like Misano so we’ll see what happens there.”
