Sachsenring MotoGP: Marquez takes pole with new record

1 of 1

Marc Marquez will start from pole position after breaking Casey Stoner’s pole position record with a fastest time of 1’20.937.

The Spaniard heads an all Honda front row ahead of team-mate Dani Pedrosa – who crashed late in the session – and LCR rider Stefan Bradl.

The second row consists of Aleix Espargaro and Factory Yamaha duo Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi. The pair have so far been unable to challenge with the Hondas.

Bradley Smith’s bad weekend continued with another crash during qualifying. The Tech 3 rider will start from ninth on the grid behind rookie team-mate Pol Espargaro in eighth.

Cal Crutchlow will start from 15th on the grid after the Brit crashed during Qualifying 1 and failed to make it to Qualifying 2. Fellow Brit Scott Redding will start from 14th.
