Knight takes SuperEnduro Poland win

Manxman David Knight has taken victory in the second round of the FIM Maxxis SuperEnduro World Championship, beating off round one winner Taddy Blazusiak at his home round in Łódź, Poland.

In the first final of the night, Knight was able to make a clean break from the gate to pull out a lead, while Blazusiak got stuck in traffic, allowing the big islander to back off on the final lap to take his first overall win of the series with ease.

In final two, the psi of favourites had more work to do, starting from the back of the reversed grids, but Knight was again able to come through to finish sixth, ahead of the Pole and just behind fellow Brit Johnny Walker.

For the last final, Knight was comfortable to settle for third as Blazusiak battled for the win with Husqvarna’s Mathias Bellino, but a mistake from the Frenchman in the closing stages demoted him to fourth, behind Knight and Walker.

Knighter said afterwards: “I’m so happy to get the overall win. The first lap of the last race was really tough, and I just settled into it, but those guys went for it!”

With two rounds gone, Blazusiak holds a 14 point lead in the championship over Knight ahead of the two flyaway rounds in Brazil and Mexico on the 18th and 25th January.
