Knight second in Liverpool SuperEnduro

Polish rider Taddy Blazusiak has dominated the opening round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, winning three races from three at Liverpool’s Echo Arena to beat off the challenge of the Isle of Man’s David Knight.

Knight, making his indoor debut on Sherco machinery, finished second twice and took fifth in the middle race to end the weekend runner-up to the reigning World Champion. Spain’s Dani Gibert was third for Husaberg, taking third, second and seventh to finish on the final podium spot.

In the Junior class, Knighter’s fellow Manxman James McCanney took overall honours on his indoor debut, while British and European Ladies Trials Champion Emma Bristow was second in the ladies race in her first ever Enduro event.

Knight said after the event: “That was certainly a tough day, the track was very tough and extremely demanding so it pushed us all to our limits. I knew coming into this weekend that my main opposition would be Taddy and I know I need more time out on the bike to get race fit again. I built a track back at home on the Isle of Man but ever since I finished it, it’s not stopped raining so getting out and doing what I needed to do nearly became impossible. I love riding the Sherco and haven’t had any problems since I’ve had it, I’m working closely with the factory and we hope to keep moving forward all the time.”

“It was great to be back up on the podium and that was certainly a testing event today so I know now where I need to be. I would like to thank all the people that came over from the Isle of Man to Liverpool to support me, seeing all the Manx flags and hearing the crowd behind me really spurred me on. I’ve the fire in my belly again now and want to win.”
