Crutchlow and Laverty to benefit from Portimao test

World Supersport championship rivals Cal Crutchlow and Eugene Laverty are leaving nothing to chance in their battle for supremacy with both men testing at Portimao this week ahead of next weekend’s season finale.

Crutchlow was in action on Monday and Tuesday on a track day but struggled to get on the pace due to a lack of grip and usual track day traffic.

He said: “I was miles off the pace compared to the test here at the beginning of the year. The grip levels were really low and I think it will definitely get better later this week. It was a bit of a waste of time in a way, but at least I got to have a ride round.”

Eugene Laverty looks set to get the best of the track time with two full days of testing planned on Wednesday and Thursday. Unlike Crutchlow who was riding on a public track day, Laverty and Parkalgar team-mate Miguel Praia will be part of a private test due to his team being sponsored by the Parkalgar circuit.
