Haslam on the pace in three day Jerez test

With two days of his scheduled three day test in Jerez complete, Leon Haslam has told MCN of his satisfaction with his BMW S1000RR.

Since switching from the Alstare Suzuki team to BMW Motorrad, Haslam has already tested at Magny Cours and Aragon but has been frustrated due to poor weather and technical problems.

Haslam and team-mate Troy Corser are now in their second round of testing which includes three days at Jerez before a two day test at Portimao next week.

Speaking to MCN this morning from Jerez, Haslam said:

“On Wednesday it was raining and while we didn’t get a lot done in terms of development we had a lot of fun and built up a lot of confidence. Basically myself and Troy went out together and we spent lap after lap sliding and spinning it up.

“Yesterday was fully dry and we got through a lot of stuff – new forks and different electronic strategies and I really fell we’re getting there. I was getting quicker and quicker all day but I did have a little crash at the end.

“It was nothing big and I got back to the pits, on to my spare bike and went quicker again. My best lap was 0.6s faster than what Troy and Ruben managed here at the start of the year which is pretty encouraging.

“Right now I’m not sure what the weather is going to do today. It’s overcast at the minute and there is rain forecast this afternoon so the plan is to get out on track now and get as much done as we can.”
