Lowes On Pole For Assen WSS Race

After taking pole in the first round in Australia Sam Lowes (Yakhnich Racing Yamaha) pushed himself to the top spot in the WSS practice order by over 0.643 seconds from second place rider Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Mahi Racing Team India). Sofuoglu’s team-mate Fabien Foret was third.

Said Lowes after his impressive pre-race showing, “It was really good today, a very positive day, and both session were good. It is my first time here on a Yamaha and the first track I have raced at where we haven’t tested. From the first laps this morning we had a few problems with my hand but now it is feeling a lot better. I am good and relaxed and ready to race. Obviously Kenan and some others will be there in the race but we have a nice pace and we should be ready to go.”

Jack Kennedy (Rivamoto Honda) scored a strong top four place on the gird on his first WSS ride at Assen, but in the new era of three riders on the grid chevrons in the SBK paddock, he is on row two.

Roberto Rolfo pushed his three cylinder MV Agusta F3 to fifth, his British team-mate Christian Iddon going 12th in the dry second qualifying session.

Kevin Coghlan (DMC Lorenzini Kawasaki) was 16th
