Iddon Second After first WSS Qualifying

1 of 1

Christian Iddon made good use of his three-cylinder MV Agusta F3 675 in a fully wet first qualifying session at Assen, going second fastest overall and only held back from the status of provisional pole sitter by a late charge from Andrea Antonelli on a Goeleven Kawasaki.

Mathew Scholtz (Suriano Racing Suzuki) pushed on in the wet to go third, with reigning champion Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Mahi Racing Team India) fourth fastest.

The rain upset a few top riders and promoted some lesser lights but local man Michael van der Mark (Pata Honda World Superbike) went fifth, despite a fall, to continue his impressive rookie form.

Sam Lowes only set two laps on his Yakhnich Yamaha after his motor stopped and he is and is currently down in 27th place. Dry conditions that are expected for day two.

Kevin Coghlan (DMC Lorenzini Kawasaki) was 19th today.
