Fitting tricky grips: an update

1 of 1

Hello, just read your Q&A about getting grips on to handlebar ends (September 16).

Lighter fluid (naptha) works a treat just squirt it liberally all round the inside walls of the grip, and then quickly push it on before it evaporates.

The grip will slide on easily, and the fluid then completely dissipates, leaving the grip rock solid.

It works when getting grips off, too I’ve used this trick on my bikes for years.

Lighter fluid’s also amazing stuff for removing all manner of grease, sticky stuff and finger marks from everything else, too I always keep a can handy around the house.

Buy it at any tobacconist.
