My Kawasaki ZZ-R600 won’t tick over

1 of 1

Q. My 2000 Kawasaki ZZ-R600’s idle is all over the place and it’s cutting out at speed, too.

I’ve tried to adjust the tickover using the screw, but it’s seized solid, so I’ve had to do it with the throttle cables themselves. Where do I start?

A. If the tickover screw has seized up, then it’s probably fair to say that the carburation system needs a good going over as it’s probably in the same state.

Get the carbs off for a really good overhaul, freeing up that adjustor, checking float heights and the floats themselves for leaks. Check the carb needles and jets for wear, too.
