Bimota rescue bid fails

1 of 1

A buyout of ailing superbike firm Bimota has fallen through, leaving rescue plans in tatters. In December last year, the firm – which was being auctioned off by Italian courts after falling into bankruptcy – was sold to entrepreneur Giuseppe della Pietra.

He paid a deposit on the understanding he would come up with the rest of the money within three months.

But he’s failed to find the extra £1.25 million – so the firm has been put up for sale again. Potential buyers include U.S. Bimota importer Bob Smith.
