New bike show on BBC TV

Radio DJ Mary Anne Hobbs will present a new TV show about bikes starting on digital channel BBC Choice on February 5.

She travelled the planet to gather motorcycling experiences, the most memorable involving an intimate encounter with stunt rider Kevin Carmichael.

” I lay on the Tarmac with him wheelieing towards me, screaming at me not to close my legs. Then he pulled a huge stoppie in the depths of my crotch.

” If I’d been naked, it would have been a very convenient way of getting a Brazilian wax! ”

Mary Anne’s Bikes is made up of 12 half-hour episodes, which include meetings with Neil Hodgson and Hells Angels’ founder Sonny Barger.

She went to a wheelie school, did a trackday, saw the Starboyz stunt team arrested in the States and even had a biker tattoo on her lower back for one programme.

She said: ” I’d love to see more bikes on the telly, it’s scandalous that they aren’t shown more. I hope this series will pave the way for that to happen. ”

It starts on BBC Choice on February 5 at 11.30pm, but could transfer to BBC1 or BBC2 if it attracts good viewing figures.
