The Ducati 999 – in the flesh

Published: 01 July 2002

Inside the latest issue of MCN, out Wednesday July 3, we’ve got world exclusive pictures of Ducati’s new 999 – and they reveal how the new bike could be as radical as the 916 was.

The pictures confirm the factory is about to ditch the trademark single-sided swingarm of its flagship sportsbike, but the look remains undeniably Ducati.

There are some new touches, however. Mounting points for aerofoils hint at a new focus on aerodynamics and the 999’s nose features new twin, stacked projector lights and intakes for a ram-air system.

The tail unit is a work of art – while the underseat exhausts remain, there’s a definite touch of the factory’s new Desmosedici GP bike about it.

You can catch all the pictures, details and technical assessment of the new 999 in the latest issue of MCN – out July 3.

We’ve also got exclusive first pictures of Ducati’s new 800ss, a track test of uprated versions of the most popular 600s and all the latest news, features and sport. Only in the new MCN – don’t miss it.
