Rider’s 155mph – "fastest ever" on camera

1 of 1

A motorcyclist narrowly escaped a prison sentence after being caught on camera doing 155mph just outside Cardiff.

Lee Beddis blasted past a parked patrol car on his bike so fast the officer inside said he felt the the pressure wave. Pc Greville Phillips told Cardiff Crown Court; ” In 25 years I’ve never seen such a high speed. The car shook as the bike went past. ”

The court heard how Beddis’ speed was the fastest ever recorded by a camera on a British road.

Beddis was sentenced to 180 hours of community service, banned for 12 months and ordered to pay £25 costs.

The judge told Beddis he only avoided jail because he has a nine-year-old child to support.

Do you think this was a fair sentence? How does it compare to Wayne Sloman’s 12-month prison sentence for speeding at 165mph? Click on the link on the right and tell us.
