Woman injured in helmet-repeal ride

1 of 1

A helmetless pillion suffered head injuries after she fell from a bike, whilst on an annual run to celebrate the repeal of the compulsory helmet law in the States.

She was taking part in the ” Pappy’s Run ” in Eastern Connecticut, named after Donald ” Pappy ” Pittsley, who helped lift the law in 1975.

Four of the 50 US states have no helmet requirement. These are Colorado, Illinois, Iowa and New Hampshire.

Connecticut is one of 20 that have laws requiring helmets for those under the age of 18, whilst there are 6 that require helmets between the ages of 18 and 21.
