Couple go to jail for stealing cop’s lid

An American couple were behind bars on New years Eve after stealing a police motorcycle helmet from inside a police station in Laredo, America.

Sergio Gamez managed to sneak into the station through a restricted area, used for unloading prisoners, and leave with a $400 lid. Unfortunately, after the helmet had been reported missing the cops soon found CCTV footage of Gamez, who had his girlfriend, Michelle Rivas, waiting in his car.

Gamez was arrested and charged with burglary and theft, with a combined bond of $35,000. Rivas allegedly turned herself in the same day, and was charged with theft. The couple spent New Years Eve in jail, which was doubly unfortunate for Rivas, as it also happened to be her birthday.
