A 1922 Brough Superior MkII went under the hammer for £27,600 at the International Classic Motorcycle Show, Stafford, last weekend – part of £643,000 of sales at Bonham’s first collectors’ bike sale of the year.

Representatives from the National Motorcycle Museum – looking to restock after fire gutted the museum – bought a number of machines including a rare overhead-valve 1927 BSA Model K flat-tanker (£4025), a fully restored 1961 AJS Model 31/Swallow Jet 80 combination (£4600), and the ex-works 1962 BSA A50 twin ridden by motocross star John Harris in the ISDT in West Germany (£7820).
