If you want something with a bit more wind protection the Kawasaki ZRX1200S fits the bill and you could have one for just £4650 for a 2001 bike with just 2000 miles on the clock and engine crash bars fitted. But the retro bikini faired ZRX1200 holds it’s value a little better and paying the same price will see you get a bike with at least 2000 more miles on it than the 1200S.

For something a bit newer there is a year old Honda CB1300 which can be found for £5495 with just 1400 miles and four free hours of advanced training included in the price.

If you fancy a big performance bike but can’t afford the price or the high insurance premiums that usually come with a bike of that kind, it’s worth thinking about a muscle bike rather than a full-on sports machine. And there are great deals about on bikes from the big four manufacturers.

A quick look through our Bikes forSale section reveals you could be on the road for as little as £3500 on a bike that costs less than a sports 600 to insure and boasts 200cc more than your average sports bike.

You could have a silver 2002 Suzuki GSX1400 for £4999 that’s done just 1400 miles in two years. Or for £500 less there’s a Yamaha XJR1300 that has gone the same distance.

The real bargain come in the shape of a 2000 XJR1300 SP. It has got 9000 miles on it but can be your for £3500 including a Remus end can, crash bobbins and matching custom saddle and tank cover.
