Toseland Man of the Year 2004

The newly crowned World Superbike champion has scooped the MCN Man of the year award at this year’s MCN Awards.

The Man of the Year award is voted for by you and this year was the closest it has ever been with readers voting in their thousands for the likes of Valentino Rossi, Yukio Kagayama and Shane Byrne.

But Toseland stood out as the clear winner, capturing the hearts of the public on his way to becoming the second British World Superbike champion in a row.

Toseland, who previously won the Young Rider of the Year MCN Award, said afterwards: “This award really means a lot to me. When they scrapped the young rider award I thought that was it, I’ll never get another, but now I’ve been given this. I’m still a bit amazed.”

Previous winners include Barry Sheene, John Surtees, Giacomo Agostini, Geoff Duke, Colin Edwards and Neil Hodgson.
