Bikes join fire brigade

1 of 1

A Honda Pan European will be used by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service to get through traffic and assess the scene at incidents in a 12-month pilot scheme.

The bike will attend automatic fire alarm calls in the city centre during rush hour and other periods of congestion, allowing the fire engine to return to the station in the event of a false alarm, and allowing crews to be better prepared for calls.

The bike will be ridden by firefighter Terry Clarke and stationed around the city centre at various points. It will also be used in local school visits and fire safety events.
