Rewards for good drivers

1 of 1

There are calls for the UK government to copy new Spanish laws which reward drivers for good behaviour.

Normal drivers in Spain now have 12 points on their licence as standard, with new drivers receiving eight points. Driving offences such as drunk-driving or dangerous driving see a driver lose six points, with lesser offences costing two, three, or four points.

On the other hand, if a driver completes three years without any offences, then they receive points. And the biggest point gain comes from taking further driver training courses.

The Association of British Drivers has called from the new government road safety minister to look at this more positive approach. as a way to encourage better driving and training.
