GSX-R: Bike of the Year 2005

1 of 1

Suzuki’s GSX-R1000 has been voted the overall MCN Machine of the year, beating off some stiff competition to take the coveted title at the MCN Awards.

The Award is give from a shortlist of the winners of the specific Machine of the year categories, but the GSX-R was the bike that really stood out.

The judges settled on the GSX-R because, quite simply, it is a bike that dominates.

MCN editor Marc Potter explained: “It dominates the showrooms, it dominates the racetrack, and it dominates its riders.

“You know you are riding something truly special when you swing a leg over the Gixxer. It offers the kind of performance that sums up everything motorcycling has ever been about – exciting, scary, and fun.

“And in a market where an extra couple of per cent makes all the difference, the GSX-R really took a quantum leap forward this year”

The other bikes on the shortlist were:

Kawasaki ZX-6R

Honda CBF500

Triumph Rocket 3

BMW R1200GS

BMW R1200RT

BMW K1200S

KTM 950SM

Triumph Speed Triple
