Chemical company BASF has signed an agreement to acquire a Chinese motorcycle catalyst business.

This will meet with the growing demand for emission-control technology.

Global motorcycle production is expected to grow five per cent annually until 2011, with 40 per cent being produced in China.

China will adopt Euro III emissions in 2008 causing a growth in demands for more emissions systems to be developed.
