MCN charges petition

1 of 1

MCN has submitted a petition to Number 10’s petition website asking for signatures to support our demand that bikes be exempted from proposed new road charges.

We drew up our demands after transport secretary Douglas Alexander promised today to listen to more than a million people who have signed a petition opposing pay-as-you-drive charges but the Department for Transport still refused to rule out charging bikes.

MCN’s petition says: “We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to exempt motorcycles from proposed road pricing.

“Motorcycles are a non-congesting mode of transport. As such, subjecting riders of motorcycles to charges intended to reduce congestion is counterproductive.”

We’re still waiting for confirmation from the Government’s petition website (petitions.pm.gov.uk) that our petition will go online.

We’ll bring you an update as soon as we have one – because we’ll be needing your signature.
