Sign road pricing petition

MCN’s petition to the Prime Minister to get bikes exempted from imminent road pricing can now be signed on Number 10’s website.

Transport secretary Douglas Alexander pledged on Monday to listen to a million people who signed a petition against pay-as-you-drive charges but his department was still refusing to rule out charging bikes. Now we’ve got until April 13 to make sure our views are heard too by getting as many signatures as possible.

Ten local authorities have been asked to plan pilot road pricing schemes for next year before a national system is devised. A national scheme which charges motorcyclists could require bikes to be fitted with satellite tracking devices which monitor road use.
