Gwent police's 'safety' campaign

Myself and two friends were on a long weekend in South Wales from Durham 13-15 Oct 2007 with two R1s and an RSVR, and were stopped three times in 90mins for a ‘Safety Check’. No check of our identity or insurance, just straight to the numberplates and £30 fines. Goes against the guidelines on the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) website under Motorcycle Policy (well worth a look).

Seems the Welsh police can disregard these laid-down guideleines… Anyone else had this happen?
