Not really road safety

I must give a huge nod of respect to any bikers out in Derbyshire on Saturday.

Everyone I passed flashed and gestured about the cameras and Police presence making sure they didn’t get their ‘revenue’ as expected that day. I returned the favour too.

We all did our best to let everyone know well in advance of the ‘cash machine’ lying in wait. This to me once again proves we as riders make the difference, not the Police. They simply hide in wait for anyone over the limit and dare to call it ‘Road Safety’.

As everyone in the UK is now aware Derbyshire Police are using an undercover blue speed camera van instead of a highly visible white marked safety van mainly on the Via Gellia road from Cromford to New Haven.

They also had two sets of marked cars before and after (about a quarter of a mile each side) that were hidden in one direction but visible in the other. Yet they concentrate on a part of the road that is straight and ignore the built up area near New Haven or Cromford.

I’m pretty sure they were ignoring any behaviour by car drivers too as I was cut up by a Mercedes Estate in full view of the Police Cars and they didn’t even blink.

Shame that’s what we pay our taxes for.
