Cops cut up dumped bike

Police found a bike whose owner they could not trace – and cut it to pieces in a show of zero tolerance for “anti-social” motorcycling.

The tatty but classic Kawasaki Z550 was butchered with an angle grinder after officers found it dumped with a false number plate.

By the look of the picture, they didn’t even remove the fluids before letting the sparks fly.

Fakenham and Wells Safer Neighbourhood Team reportedly reacted to complaints of a rider using the bike with no crash helmet.

Police officer Andy Johnston said: “We want to make it clear that if motorbike riders persist in this sort of behaviour, this is how their machines could end up – being seized and cut up into pieces.”

MCN has asked Norfolk Police how it knows officers haven’t destroyed a stolen bike without alerting the rightful owner. The force had yet to respond.
