My Triumph Thruxton special

1 of 2

Hi, noticed the Triumph bobber in your paper and thought you might want to see my version of a bobber/tracker!

It started life as the Thruxton but dropped bars aren’t good for my back, but as I liked the alloy wheels and the slightly warmer motor on the Thruxton I decided to change it rather than go for a Bonneville.

The rear subframe was removed and a solo seat made, the rear guard is off an old Harley-Davidson sporty, with the rack and fender supports being made from stainless steel.

Of course the more you change the more you need to do, so side panels were then made to fill the gaps along with Stainless air filter guards to keep the rain out.

An alloy top fork yolk was needed to support risers and the Stainless handlebars giving me the more upright riding position I wanted in the first place.

Other odds and sods abound, like the one off fuel cap, side panel screws, and Chainguard.

But for me, what sets the bike off is the addition of the beautiful Stainless Norton style silencers, giving the bike a worthy sound, that no cut off drag pipe can ever achieve.

All credit for one off items, paint and polished Stainless, must go to Jons Shed Engineering down here in New Zealand.
