Glos bikers lose a champion

1960s & 70s bikers & racing enthusiasts will be mourning the loss Friday 2pm St Christopher’s Warden Hill Cheltenham, GL51 3DD of Don Browning (reported in local echo). 
 
Don Browning better known for his chartable works and running church & boys lads brigade and many other such good causes also as watch repairing and his trophy shop in lower high street Cheltenham. 
 
Don with a foot disability from birth, had motorcycling in his blood & with his brother Jack Championed motorcycling; racing for the Cheltenham motor club in 1964 at Little Rissington, perhaps the start of prosperity but was so popular that this was increased to 3 times a year bringing many of the countries top riders & 1000s of spectators attending. Having to move to  Morton Valance 1967 & 68 after the Red Arrows went to Rissington before moving to Staverton Airport 1969-1978.
 
Don also help start the North Glos motorcycle club dedicated solely to organizing races, still going well today.
 
Don was was a No 1 fan his nephew (son of Jack) Dave Browning (see photo on works cotton) who was works rider with Cottons 1965 going on to be British 250 champion in 1969 on a Yamaha?
 
retiring from the shop to health problems confined to a wheelchair the last few years, his wife Doreen died a some years ago, looked after by Shelia his wide cousin & friend had 2 sons Kevin (doing watch preparing) & Richard (who runs trophy shop).
