New optical illusion motorcycle safety advert

A new motorcycle TV safety advert uses optical illusions to warn drivers how carefully they need to look for motorcyclists at junctions.

The Transport for London ad was devised after psychologists found people mistakenly thought smaller objects would take longer to reach them than larger ones, even those moving at the same speed.

This ‘size arrival effect’ could explain accidents where drivers pull out into the path of motorcycles.
