New TomTom Urban Rider satnav announced

TomTom’s latest motorcycle satnav is claimed to be “glove-friendly, have an intuitive screen and simplified user interface”.

The simple menu has just two buttons - ‘Navigate to’ and ‘Browse map’. TomTom claim it’s hassle-free to use the screen with a gloved hand.

The new unit also boasts what the firm calls “advanced lane guidance”. On tricky motorway junctions you get a 3D picutre of the junction, showing which lane to take.

Plus ‘IQ Routes’ use actual speed data collected from millions of users to calculate the fastest route for any hour of any day.

TomTom is also releasing TomTom Rider Pro, which includes a Bluetooth headset, for receiving instructions and for making and receiving phone calls on the go.

TomTom Urban Rider will be on sale from the end of May 2010.

It will cost
£249.99 for UK/Republic of Ireland maps and £299.99 for European maps.
