New BMW race kit for S1000RR

1 of 1

You can now buy the same race kit used by Superstock champ Ayrton Badovini.

The official BMW Motorrad HP Race Power Kit includes a new ECU and an Akrapovic exhaust system (said to save 6.8kg), claimed to increase peak power by 4bhp and torque by 6ftlb while optimising the bike’s engine, braking and power management systems for short circuit riding and racing.

Once installed, the power mapping for the four engine management riding modes (‘Rain’, ‘Sport’, ‘Race’ and ‘Slick’) is identical; the different modes instead alter the electronic rider aids with the Race ABS reducing input and the Dynamic Traction Control allowing full power at greater lean angles.

A pitlane limiter is activated when the start button is held down in first gear. The four riding modes are pre-programmed – however, the HP Calibration Kit, due to be released later in the year, will allow settings to be customised.

The kit is available now and costs £2467.08. Owners and teams may fit it, but it must be checked and activated at a BMW Motorrad Dealership.
